Patrick Peterson

AZ Cardinals Cornerback

Patrick Peterson, Cornerback for the Arizona Cardinals, was born in Pompano Beach, Florida on July 11, 1990. While in high school, he participated in both football and track. From 2008 through 2010, he played as a Louisiana State University Tiger and earned All-American honors.

Patrick PetersonPeterson has since won several awards, set many records and is considered to be one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. Just a few of his accomplishments include: Fifth overall pick and first cornerback chosen in the 2011 NFL Draft; 2011, 2012 and 2013 Pro Bowl honors; One of only two NFL players to be selected to the Pro Bowl as both a defender and a kick returner.

Shortly after the 2014 NFL season, Peterson disclosed that he had been diagnosed as a diabetic. He saw an opportunity -not a disease- and describes his challenge this way: "I have always believed that to be successful you have to train and prepare for the adversity. When I was dealing with diabetes, I did not use that as an excuse but as motivation to understand my body better and out work my opponents."

A champion on and off the field, Peterson is dedicated to his community and to sharing his success and drive with others. In 2011, he launched the Patrick Peterson Foundation for Success. The mission of the Foundation is to provide low-income and inner-city youth with opportunities and resources to reach their full potential through a variety of programs. Pick up a Book, Pick out a Book, Patrick's Corner, Gearing Up and Shop with a Jock are a few of the programs designed to challenge and reward Phoenix students to read and succeed.

Patrick embodies the courage and spirit of our Foundation's spectacular set of awardees. We are thrilled to have him on our Tempe Sports Authority bench of all-stars.
